Do you remember Johannes Svensson? |
| I have
an interesting document that describes my family's connections to cousins
and places in Lekvattnet. It is a five page document that is almost
certainly written by my grandfather Carl Swanson's uncle John Swanson. It
was written either before Carl's 1949 or 1955 trip to Sweden. It is a detailed description of where to go in Lekvattnet to see old family farms and explains who some relatives are. I only know a little Swedish, so I don't understand much of it. John states on page one that "(där går en väg till höjen som går till din Farmoders Barndoms hem -Elfbacken-nuvarande ägaren är troligtvis Nils Cristofferson äller någon av hans Barn)" and I think that means "from there you go on a trip to ____ that goes to your father's mother's childhood home -Elfbacken- whose owner is ______ Nils Cristofferson or one of his children.". On page two John writes about a house he built. I have attached a June 1949 photo of John next to the house in Lekvattnet that he built himself in about the year 1889. He also tells about his childhood home at Orrasfall and how difficult it was to work the land. I have attached scanned copies of this five page document thinking that someone might find them interesting to read. |
